Smoke warning as crews battle massive shed fire on Gold Coast

Half a dozen fire crews are currently working to extinguish a massive fire that’s engulfed a commercial shed on the northern Gold Coast.

It’s understood at least 500kg of hay has caught alight inside the shed, which is located on Loves Road in Woongoolba, causing plumes of thick black smoke to billow over the suburb.

A warning has been issued for residents in the area, with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services warning the fire is “generating large volumes of smoke” which may affect the local community.

Nearby residents are being told to close all windows and doors, with motorists travelling through the area also urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

Emergency crews arrived around 10.40am this morning and remain on scene working to douse the flames.

“The fire is contained to the building of origin, but crews will remain on site for an extended period extinguishing the blaze,” QFES said.

Thankfully all persons have been accounted for.
