Snake catcher called to rescue rubber snake from child care centre

A childcare centre in Victoria received a fright last week when they spotted a snake sneakily hiding under a pile of leaves in the outdoor play area.

Snake catcher Barry Goldsmith was called to the early learning centre in Noble Park on Thursday after the slithery creature was found between two sheds.

“I was called to the day care centre in Noble Park to catch a snake yesterday,” Barry wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Ebonie thought she better not take any chances when she spotted some familiar scales in the leaf litter.”

However, the scaly reptile wasn’t as dangerous as first thought – as it turned out to be a fake rubber toy!

Relieved at the revelation, staff at the child care centre had a little chuckle and even posed with the toy snake that sparked the frantic call.
