Socceroos World Cup hopes on the line

Australia is hopeful tonight’s results fall their way, with their World Cup campaign on the line.

The Aussies take on Peru at midnight and need to beat the South American nation to qualify for the next round.

But a win alone isn’t enough.

Australia needs France to comfortably beat Denmark, who are also playing tonight, to qualify for the round of 16.

All eyes will be on Australia’s highest goalscorer, Tim Cahill.

The 38-year-old has barely featured since Bert Van Marwijk took over as the national team coach.

The veteran coach has remained tight-lipped over whether Cahill would be playing.

“I am not going to discuss here players who are playing or don’t play,” he said.
