Social media is flipping out over WA Premier’s slow-mo video

It’s not very often that an Australian Premier breaks the internet, but overnight, Western Australia’s fearless leader has done just that.

Premier Mark McGown, notorious for his extremely tough response to coronavirus in terms of restrictions and border closures, has posted a video to social media.

It celebrates Western Australia’s end of mask-wearing restrictions, with a slow-motion mask take-off to that dramatic moon-landing-esque song that was in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The video only lasts 13 seconds, but it’s received thousands of people’s reactions on Facebook since it was posted yesterday morning.

“Thanks Mark for the giggle,” writes one. “Oscar recommended,” says another.

“You ain’t movie blockbuster material Mark, never in a million years.”

“The eagle has landed, good job mate.”

So what do you think? Should Annastacia Palaszczuk consider something similar for Queensland’s lifting of mask restrictions on Friday?
