Soundgarden frontman dead at 52

Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell has sadly taken his life after a concert.

Hours after he played in Detroit, paramedics rushed to his room at the MGM Grand hotel.

A police spokeswoman told media officers were called to Cornell’s hotel around midnight by a friend of the musician and found Cornell “laying in his bathroom, unresponsive and he had passed away.”

“The cause of death has been determined as suicide” the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a statement.

Hours before his death, Cornell shared on his Facebook page the band’s song ‘By Crooked Steps’ with the caption: “I’m the shape of the hole/Inside your heart.”

In a final tweet hours before his death, Cornell told his 1.88 million followers of his excitement at being in Detroit to perform.

Cornell had battled with substance abuse for many years, but had claimed to have been sober for more than a decade.
