South Africa evens things up in one-day series

SOUTH AFRICA have leveled the one-day series against Australia, with a three wicket victory at the WACA on Sunday.

Chasing 155 for victory, the Proteas reached their target with 134 balls to spare, despite a career-best haul of five for 31 from paceman Josh Hazlewood.

All-rounder Mitch Marsh scored 67 off 88 balls during Australia’s innings, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to fire as Morne Morkel ran rampant with five for 21.

The Aussie side says they’ll be aiming to bounce back when they take on South Africa in Wednesday’s third clash in Canberra.

Stand-in Australian skipper George Bailey says his team needs to lift with the bat during the remainder of the five-match series.
