Southport man jailed in Jordan after making threats against Australia

A FORMER Gold Coast man is facing some serious time behind bars overseas, after allegedly making threats against Australia.

Police in Jordan say Ali al-Hasanat made threats against Australian tourists and the embassy through social media.



Al-Hasanat denies any wrongdoing but faces up to 15 years behind bars in found guilty.

According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, it’s not the first time he’s found himself in trouble, after also being convicted of multiple other charges including drugs and stealing offences.

His Facebook page is full of disturbing pictures of him and children holding weapons.

Immigrations have cancelled his Visa and he will not be allowed back in the country.
