Speed limits on some Gold Coast roads to change

A NUMBER of roads on the Gold Coast will have speed limits changed, following a statewide review.

After examining speed zones on 100 Queensland roads, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has finalised changes on nine roads – 2 on the Gold Coast and 1 in Tamborine.

On the Gold Coast, there will be no more confusion for motorists shifting between 60km/h and 80km/h on Olsen Avenue, with the speed limit between Smith Street and Southport-Nerang Road to be changed to 70km/h an hour.

At Currumbin Waters, Stewart Road from the M1 to the Gold Coast Highway will be increased to 80km/h from 70km/h.

In Tamborine, the speed limit on sections of Williamson and Greensward Roads will be lifted from 60km/h to 70km/h.

The results for the remaining 80 roads will be released over coming months.

Speed limit changes will not take effect until signs are changed.
