Speed limits reduced near Gold Coast Show

DRIVERS are being urged to steer clear of the Broadwater Parklands in Southport this weekend, with the Gold Coast Show expected to lure 50,000 people to the area.

It’s the first time the three-day show has been held on the waterfront and this year, entry will be free.

As a result, police are warning of significant delays and traffic disruptions around the Parklands.

To help alleviate concerns, speed limits will be reduced to 40km along the Gold Coast Highway between Nerang Street and the Sundale Bridge from 8am Friday through to 10pm Sunday.

Cars will also not be allowed to park along the Highway between Nerang Street and Ada Bell Way from 10pm tonight through to 11pm on Sunday.

Police are also warning of congestion outside Owen Park on Queen Street where the Show’s Equestrian events and dog shows will be held.

Pet owners are also advised there will be a fireworks display at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and again about 7pm on Sunday.
