WATCH: Staff fight off machete-wielding robber

STAFF have fought off a masked robber after he stormed their Labrador convenience store, armed with a machete.

It’s alleged the man entered Al’s Convenience store on Bellevue Parade around 7.25pm on Tuesday, brandishing the weapon while threatening staff and demanding cash.

Despite being threatened with a machete, the attendants refused to comply with the man’s demands and started hurling objects at him, including a broom and other kitchen utensils, as he attempted to jump the counter.

Police said a female employee fell over during the incident and received a minor injury to her hand.

The frustrated offender gave up and fled the scene on foot without any property.

Multiple crews, including the dog squad, saturated the area but were unable to find him.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 175cm tall, and was last seen running east along Bellevue Parade.

He was wearing grey shorts, a black hooded jumper with white printing on the hood and left sleeve, blue gloves and what is believed to have been similar to a ski mask covering his face.

Residents say it’s not the first time the small store has been targeted.

Investigations into the incident are continuing and police are reviewing forensic examinations and CCTV footage.

Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
