Staffer stabbed while trying to fight off robber

An employee of a convenience store has been stabbed while trying to fight off a knife-wielding robber in Sydney’s inner-city overnight.

Police say the armed man entered the Chippendale store on Buckland Street at around 9.45pm.

With his face concealed, he allegedly confronted the 35-year-old male attendant and demanded he empty the till.

The attendant refused to comply with the demands and struggled with the man before he was stabbed in the shoulder.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment to what police say were non life-threatening injuries.

Police are desperately trying to identify and locate the offender who fled the scene.
