TRIBUTES are pouring in for Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in the original trilogy, following his death.
His family confirmed via Twitter that Mayhew died at his Texas home surrounded by loved ones on April 30.
He was 74.

The 221cm tall actor made minor appearances in Sinbad and Eye of the Tiger in the late 70s, before being cast as Chewbacca, the 200-year-old Wookiee in Star Wars.
He then went on to appear in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens and The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Mayhew was active on the convention circuit, with a memorial planned for fans in Los Angeles in early December at EmpireCon.
Fans have taken to social media to express their sadness at his passing, including one touching tribute where he was drawn alongside co-star Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia and passed away in December 2016.
Mayhew is survived by wife Angie and three children.
