A man charged with the murder of four-year-old Gold Coast boy Tyrell Cobb has been refused bail.
Matthew Ian Anthony Scown, 32, was charged with the brutal murder of the young boy after allegedly bashing him to death in 2009.
During a bail hearing in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday, Scown’s layers argued that new evidence showed that the child’s mother Heidi Strbak was the one who inflicted the fatal blows.

However Scown was refused bail due to his lengthy criminal history including domestic violence and breach of bail.
Tyrells mother Ms Strbak has also been charged with his murder, however was released on bail in August.
Police allege Mr Scown and his partner Heidi Strbak were responsible for inflicting the wounds that killed Cobb six years ago.
A committal hearing is expected to be held next year.
