Stolen Mercedes involved in early morning Southport smash

A major hunt is underway across the Gold Coast after a stolen Mercedes ploughed into another car in Southport this morning.

The crash happened at the busy intersection of Musgrave and Brook Avenue just before 6.00am.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the driver of the Mercedes ran from the scene immediately after the crash.

“The female driver of the second vehicle was not injured,” the spokesperson said.

The vehicles were left blocking the roadway, causing chaos for the early morning commute.

It’s understood the crash scene has now been cleared.

Investigations into both the crash and stolen vehicle are continuing.
