Storms roll in

Thunderstorms are shifting across the Gold Coast from the hinterland.

A quick look at the radar image on the Bureau of Meteorology website showed several red and brown patches which can indicate very heavy rain.

A strong wind warning is in place for Gold Coast waters with gusts tipped to reach 15 to 20 knots.

The wild weather was also expected to cause havoc in the Scenic Rim region.

It is hoped the wet conditions will help ease the current heat wave, with the top temperature reaching 36 degrees in Coomera today.

Tomorrow’s forecast is slightly milder with a high of 29 degrees expected in Surfers Paradise and further showers and thunderstorms likely.
