Stosur, Groth to fly Aussie flag in Wimbledon day-one action

The two Sams will be flying the Australian flag on day-one of Wimbledon on Monday.

Samantha Stosur and Sam Groth are the only Aussies in action in round one on opening day.

Stosur, who is seeded 14th in the women’s singles event, opens her campaign against world No.93 Magda Linette.

Things don’t look so easy for Groth, who is set to take on Japanese fifth seed Kei Nishikori.

Both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are among the big names set to take centre court.

Spectators heading over to watch the tournament at the All England Club can expect to see more security than ever before, with an increased police presence inside and outside the gates.

The club has listened to calls for heightened security measures at sporting events across Europe as half a million tennis fans prepare to watch the championships over the coming fortnight.

Security was beefed up at Wimbledon last year with airport-style scanners for staff and bag checks at the gates for players and spectators.
