UPDATE: Man arrested following Toogoolawah stand-off

UPDATE 4:30PM: A man is being questioned by Police after he was captured in bushland following a stand-off west of Brisbane.

He had barricaded himself inside a home on Bellambi Street in Toogoolawah around 9.15am on Friday.

Police say they had arrived to speak with him in relation to an earlier alleged car-jacking in Ipswich.

EARLIER: A stand-off is underway west of Brisbane, with a man holed up in a house in Toogoolawah.

Police have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act, with an exclusion zone of 500 meters around the Bellambi Street home.

Channel Nine reports, Police were following up on an earlier attempted carjacking around 9.15am on Friday when the man barricaded himself inside the vacant house.

They have cordoned off the area of Gunyah Street and Drem Stree and at Bellambi Street and Drem Street. A nearby primary school has also been evacuated.

Police negotiators are on scene and local residents are urged to avoid the area where possible.
