‘Struggle Street’ producers find new suburb for controversial TV program

THE producers of SBS program Struggle Street have reportedly found a new suburb for the controversial series.

According to News Corp, filming has begun in the suburb of Sunshine, in Melbourne’s west.

The first series of the show filmed in Mount Druitt, in Sydney’s west was labelled ”poverty porn” as it followed the daily lives of families living on the fringe of society.

In one episode in particular, a young woman by the name of Billie Jo Wilkie caused social media outrage after she was filmed smoking a bong and cigarettes in the final trimester of her third pregnancy as her mum watched on.

Although locations have not yet been confirmed, News Corp reports two people living in Sunshine have been test-filmed for the show.

Sunshine has a population of 8,838.
