Handball gel sparks medical emergency at SE Qld high school

UPDATE: Thirteen students at a southeast Queensland high school have been treated after coming into contact with a mystery gel inside a handball this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Morayfield State Highschool just before 1.30pm.

It’s reported students were handling an object, believed to a handball, when it burst.

The gel from inside the object is believed to have caused a “tingling sensation” in the hands of the students.

Paramedics treated the students on scene and they have since been given the all clear.

EARLIER: Thirteen students have been injured in a lab explosion at a Southeast Queensland high school this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to Morayfield State Highschool just before 1.30pm.

It’s believed the students were handling an experimental object which burst in a science lab.

They are currently being treated for minor injuries to their hands.
