Summer Superfood: Berry Fruit Smoothie


SUMMER is fast approaching and the days are becoming hotter, so why not start your day with a refreshing Berry smoothie.

It’s light, healthy and easy to make and there’s no cooking. And the best part is that it takes just 20 seconds to make. This energizing breakfast is a healthy way to start the day and ideal for those with no choice but to have breakfast on the run.

Ingredients: 2 serves
1 cup of strawberries
½ cup of mixed blueberries and raspberries (in season)
1 avocado or 1 banana*
1 dessertspoon of chai
2 passion fruit (pulp)
Juice of one lemon
1 teaspoon of organic honey or coconut sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon maqui or acai berry powder
10-15 coconut water ice cubes

Place ingredients into blender adding ice last on top and blend for 15-20 seconds, adding filtered water as needed and serve. *banana is higher in the glycemic index. Symbols: GF,DF,V,Ve,SF[/signoff]
