The first bounce of the Gold Coast Suns’ 2018 season will be over 1700km away from Metricon Stadium when they host North Melbourne in Cairns.
Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the match at Cazalys Stadium on Saturday March 24.
The Suns will play multiple games away from Metricon in 2018 due to the Commonwealth Games occupying their facilities.

Gold Coast CEO Mark Evans is looking forward to bringing AFL to North Queensland.
“A round one game in Cairns presents a wonderful opportunity to showcase the region ahead of what is always a much-anticipated opening round,” Mr Evans said.
“We’ve established significant support in Cairns and throughout North Queensland.”
“We are committed to playing our role in developing our game throughout the region, which is also a key recruitment catchment for the Suns Talent Academy.”
The Gold Coast and the Queensland Government have committed to bringing more games to the tropical north, with the Suns playing in Townsville and Cairns in 2019 or 2020.
