Suns beat Lions but lose Ablett, Rischitelli to injury

The Gold Coast’s win in Q-Clash 12 has been soured by injury to two of their biggest stars.

Skipper Gary Ablett went off clutching his left shoulder in the final quarter of Saturday’s 26 point victory over the Lions.

Coach Rodney Eade says they will have to wait for scans to confirm the extent of the damage.

While Michael Rischitelli is expecting a long spell on the sideline after hearing a ‘pop’ in his knee early on in the game at Metricon Stadium.

“It’s a classic movement for an ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] – he heard it pop,” Eade explained in the post-match conference.

“We will have to wait for scans, but I think it’s pretty certain (to be an ACL injury),” he added.

While fellow midfielder, Dion Prestia, also copped a knee injury that could see him miss next weekend’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.
