SUNS can down the Hawks says coach McKenna

THE SUNS will go into this weekend’s clash against Hawthorn with added confidence, coming off the back of their upset win over Geelong.

Coach Guy McKenna believes his players have developed from boys into men and there is no physical reason they cannot match it with the best teams in the AFL.

The club’s website reports, he’s described Saturday’s 40-point win over the Cats as “a fork in the road”.

McKenna said the Gold Coast could no longer use physical underdevelopment as an excuse against the heavy hitters after disposing of the Cats.

“It made me realise the boys are a bit more physically advanced than I thought they were,” McKenna said.

“To take Geelong on at their own game, it was a fork in the road so to speak, and they got through it OK.”

He’s now looking forward to the SUNS having a chance to show the same guts and determination against Hawthorn in Launceston on Saturday.
