With just six weeks until the AFL season gets underway, footy fans are getting excited about seeing their favourite team make their tilt for the flag.
The Gold Coast SUNS will kick off round one in Cairns, with Metricon Stadium off limits for Commonwealth Games use, against North Melbourne.
Ten thousand fans are expected to pack Cazalys Stadium for the match on Saturday 24th March, with tickets now on sale.

GC SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans, who was on site at the Cairns Sport Junior Sign on day, said the club was excited about once again bringing the game to an important region for the club.
“A round one game in Cairns presents a wonderful opportunity to showcase the region in what will be the first time, the much anticipated opening round of the AFL Season is played at the regional venue” Mr Evans said.
“As a club we need to continue to play our role in developing our game throughout North Queensland, a key recruitment catchment for the SUNS Talent Academy.”
“Over the last two year’s we have drafted both Jack Bowes and Jacob Heron from the region, alongside inaugural Gold Coast SUN, Jarrod Harbrow who has played over 100 games for the Club.”
There are four categories of pricing: Upper Grandstand which is the premium seating location, Lower Grandstand and Northern and Southern Grandstand and General Admission.
A family package (2 adults and 2 children) is available in General Admission which provides a very affordable option for families to attend the match.
