SUNS pair mark 50th AFL game

GOLD Coast sun’s Tom Lynch and Brandon Matera will both play their 50th career games against West Coast this Saturday.

Both players have broken personal career records with Lynch kicking 23 goals in 11 matches and Matera kicking 20 in 10 matches.

With the Suns currently sitting in the top eight in the competition, the young forwards said the teams performance has definitely improved this year.

“Our team has obviously played a lot better this year and the ball’s coming in on our terms,” Matera said.

This weekend’s game at Patersons Stadium will give the team a chance to redeem themselves after a two-game losing streak.

Lynch said this game is a big chance for the team to steal a win.

“It’s a pretty important game for us. We’re sitting eighth on the ladder so we probably need to consolidate ourselves at the moment.

“It’s a big chance for a win,” he said.
