SUNS rule Dixon out of QClash with Lions

THE Gold Coast SUNS will look to break a hoodoo against the Brisbane Lions when they host their Queensland rivals at Metricon Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

The SUNS have confirmed they’ll be without key forward Charlie Dixon for QClash 7, after scans indicated he had sustained a strain to his adductor.

General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, told the club website, Dixon could spend a couple of weeks on the sideline.

“Charlie reported a sore groin to our medical staff immediately following last week’s match against Fremantle,” Ashcroft said.

“We sent him for scans during the week and the results indicated a strain to his adductor. At this early stage we anticipate that Charlie will miss at least two weeks.”

It’s better news for utility Luke Russell who will make his first AFL appearance for 2014.

Matthew Warnock has earned a recall, following a strong performance in the seconds alongside Russell.
