Suns unable to cling to victory in slippery conditions

THE GOLD COAST Suns have suffered another loss at the hands of Hawthorn.

Despite a remarkable performance from skipper Gary Ablett, the Suns fell in the wet conditions 116 to 63.

Gold Coast came out with a real physical presence in the opening term, matching the Hawks’ dominance and hard approach to stoppages.

But the reigning premier showed its class, tallying 35 inside-50 entries to the Suns’ 13 by the half-time break.

It got worse for the Suns in the third term, with the Hawks kicking nine unanswered goals and charging to a 59-point lead heading into the final change.

Ablett put on another star performance with 45 possessions marking a new record at Aurora Stadium.

He brought his season goal tally to 24 and knotched up a game-high eight clearances, six tackles and five inside-50s.
