Super Hornets to conduct Gold Coast flypast

Gold Coasters should keep their eyes on the skies later this morning when two RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets do a flypast over the city.

The aircraft will do multiple passes of Surfers Paradise from around 10.30 this morning.

The Super Hornets will approach Surfers from the north, roaring past at about 850km per hour.

The aircraft will fly as low as 80 metres as they whizz along the coastline.

They will then return to RAAF Base Amberley.

The flypast will coincide with the launch of a major new global event on the Gold Coast this morning.
