Supermarket staff threatened with syringe in terrifying armed robbery

A MAN has been arrested and charged after he allegedly robbed a supermarket at Queanbeyan yesterday while armed with a syringe.

Police said the man entered the store on Gilmore Place around 5.00pm and confronted and threatened staff with the sharp object.

The man then demanded money before fleeing with cash.

Following investigations, police found the man hiding in the backyard of a nearby home.

It’s alleged he struggled and assaulted officers before he was subdued and arrested.

The 37-year-old was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with multiple offences, including robbery, resist arrest and assault police.

The local man was refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Bail Court today.
