Supermoon rising over Gold Coast tonight

Gold Coasters will tonight be able to see the biggest supermoon in almost 70 years.

It will be the first time since 1947 that the moon is this close to the Earth – and it’s not expected to happen again until 25 November 2034.

The best place to see the supermoon rising will be at 5:49pm on one of the Gold Coast’s beaches or a high hill with unobstructed views to the east.

Meanwhile, the moon will be at its absolute closest point – and the best for photos – in the hour after midnight.
