Surf lifesavers hit the beaches

GOLD Coast surf lifesavers kick off their patrol season this morning.

All 21 Gold Coast surf clubs will hit the surf at 8am, and are set to continue patrolling Coast beaches until the last weekend in April next year.

City Chief Lifeguard Warren Young says the Gold Coast has the best lifesavers in Australia.

“Our lifesavers have completed the required proficiency and physical testing and are ready for the upcoming season,” he said.

“The selfless dedication and commitment of our volunteer surf lifesavers during the season is appreciated by the Council and community.”

Both the City’s Lifeguard Service and Surf Life Saving Queensland are urging beachgoers to swim at patrolled beaches and stay between the flags.
