M1 crash causing delays for motorists

UPDATE: Motorists are experiencing heavy delays on the the Pacific Motorway this morning.

Traffic is backed up heavily southbound from Nerang to Varsity Lakes, while northbound traffic is also quite congested from Currumbin through to Mudgeeraba.

The delays are due to an earlier crash at Reedy Creek.

Motorists have been advised to allow for extra travel time.

EARLIER: A multi-vehicle crash is causing delays for motorists in Surfers Paradise this morning.

The accident occurred on Thomas Drive, Chevron Island on the eastern bridge just after 7.00am.

Emergency services are at the scene and have blocked off the road in both directions.

Traffic is quickly backing up in the area with motorists urged to seek alternative routes.

Translink has advised that buses in the area are being diverted due to the crash.

“Route 740 buses are on a local diversion due to a traffic incident on Thomas Drive, Chevron Island. ”

Meanwhile, a single-vehicle crash has occurred southbound on the Pacific Motorway at Reedy Creek.

Partial lane closures are in place with motorists advised to allow for extra travel time.
