A number of surfers have evacuated a popular beach on the southern Gold Coast this morning after a shark was reportedly spotted in the water.
According to Dorsal Shark Reports, the shark was seen about 30 metres from the shore at Kirra.
“Shark seen feeding on bait fish in the shallows,” the shark reporting and alerting platform said.

It’s understood several surfers spotted the shark, said to be 2 metres in length, and decided to head back to the sand.
“Also 6-7 surfers came out of the water after sighting another shark in the line up at Kirra Point,” Dorsal said.
Helicopters are hovering above the beach at the moment, with the vision indicating surfers and swimmers have since returned to the water.
It comes a week after Burleigh real estate agent Nick Slater was tragically killed by a suspected Great White while surfing at Greenmount Beach in Coolangatta.
