Suspended Logan Mayor and seven councillors to be charged by corruption watchdog

Suspended Logan Mayor Luke Smith and seven councillors are expected to be charged today by the Corruption watchdog following a lengthy investigation into Logan City Council.
The Crime and Corruption Commission has been investigating a range of issues relating to members of the Council since November 2017.
Cr Smith has already been charged with official corruption, perjury and failure to update his register of interests as part of Operation Front.

He is now also expected to be charged with causing a dishonest detriment to the former CEO along with the other seven councillors.

He is also expected to be charged for allegedly interfering in a recruitment process and commencing a dishonest probation process.

CCC Chairperson Alan MacSporran QC will hold a press conference this afternoon.
