Surfers re-opened after a bomb scare

UPDATE – Streets in Surfers Paradise are now open to traffic after a suspicious device forced closures throughout the heart of the city.

A man was found in possession of what is believed to be a molotov cocktail around 12 today, in Trickett Street – forcing its closure and also parts of the Esplanade.

A small exclusion zone was set up around the area as officers disposed of the item.

The man is now in police custody.
