Suspicious fire spreads to pet shop, killing a number of animals

Investigations are underway after a fire broke out in a grocery shop, spread to a pet store and killed a number of animals overnight.

Emergency services were called to a group of shops along Kingston Road and Park Road in Slacks Creek around 9.00 pm.

It’s understood a fire had broken out in a grocery store, before spreading to a number of nearby businesses.

One of the businesses was the ‘Pet Country’ shop, which housed a number of animals.

Police have confirmed that some of the animals perished as a result of the fire.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by around 10.30 pm, having to then ventilate three businesses.

A crime scene has since been declared and investigations will resume this morning, with the smoke too think to investigate last night.

Playing the blame game ! Yes we do need harsher penalties! But the problem all started when we were told we are not allowed to discipline our children so children adopt the mind set that they can do whatever they want with no punishment! We have to stop treating children special and as though the world owes them and give em a good clout when they step out of line
