Sweet ride: Bees swarm car which captured their Queen

In a scene reminiscent of a Winnie the Pooh story, a woman has been followed by a swarm of thousands of bees for two days, after unknowingly trapping their Queen in her car.

Carol Howarth was at the shops in Pembrokeshire in Wales when passersby noticed the hive of activity on the boot of her Mitsubishi Outlander.

A team of beekeepers managed to capture most of the swarm, believed to comprise of up to 20,000 bees.

But, when Ms Howarth returned home some of the non-cooperative bees followed her, but it was a much smaller swarm and was collected by a bee keeper a day later.

Experts believe their Queen bee must have somehow made her way into the car and her tribe followed.
