Swimmer ‘critical’ after near downing in Burleigh Heads
A man is fighting for life after a near drowning in Burleigh Heads this afternoon.
The 43-year-old was pulled unconscious from the water near Second Avenue at around 3.30pm.
It’s understood he hit his head on the sand.
Friends dragged him to the shore before performing CPR until emergency services arrived.
Paramedics, including Critical Care, continued treating the man at the scene.
He was later rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition.
