Sydney CBD street closed as fire crews battle scaffolding inferno
FIRE crews are currently battling a large fire at a construction site in the middle of Sydney’s CBD.
The blaze is understood to have started at a building on Macquarie Street around 8.00am.
The busy street has since been closed with diversions in place.
Photos and videos posted to social media show large flames and smoke billowing through scaffolding and into the sky.
NSW police have confirmed that at this stage, no one has been injured.
People are being urged to avoid the area.
