Sydney court in lockdown as accused murderer tries to escape

Newtown Court has been forced into lockdown after a man accused of stabbing another man to death in Sydney’s inner west last night tried to flee.

William Rodney Cahill was due to face court this afternoon after stabbing to death a 51-year-old man at the intersection of Salisbury Road and Church Street in Camperdown.

The 28-year-old allegedly tried to escape police custody, however was unsuccessful.
