Sydney knife attack suspect still in hospital

The man accused of murdering a woman with a knife before going on a rampage through Sydney streets is still under police guard in hospital.

20-year-old Mert Ney allegedly killed 24-year-old Michaela Dunn in an apartment block before stabbing another woman in the back while running through the CBD on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the public were able to stop Ney with chairs and a milk crate, before emergency services arrived.

It’s understood he was taken to hospital under police guard to undergo mental health assessments, where he now remains three days later.

No charges have been laid yet.

Investigations are ongoing.
