Sydney man buried alive in New Zealand avalanche

A SYDNEY man has died after becoming trapped in an avalanche while skiing south of Queenstown in New Zealand.

Roger Greville, 58, was pulled from avalanche debris just before 3pm on Monday, but died a short time later.

The cause of his death is still unknown.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out this morning.

The Australian Embassy has been contacted and a number of Mr Greville’s family members are due to arrive in the area today.
