Sydney man charged with child exploitation

A man from Sydney’s northern beaches has been charged with online child exploitation offences.

The Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit investigates the sexual abuse and exploitation of children online under Strike Force Trawler.

In January, strike force officers began engaging online with a man from Sydney’s Northern Beaches.


Police will allege the man believed he was speaking to the father of an 11-year-old girl and made numerous sexually explicit comments about the child, and made arrangements to meet with the pair.

About 11.30am on Thursday, the 33-year-old man was arrested by strike force detectives near Parramatta.

Shortly after, detectives executed a search warrant at a home unit at Dee Why, where they seized computers, electronic storage devices, and mobile phones.

The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with incite to commit aggravated sexual intercourse person aged between 10 and 14, use carriage service to procure persons under 14, and use carriage service transmit/publish/promote child pornography.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.  See vision of his arrest here.
