A man who claimed his partner’s son died from falling off a pogo stick, has been found guilty of murder.
Kodi Maybir appeared in the Sydney Supreme Court on Thursday, where, following a six-week trial, a jury unanimously found him guilty of killing the seven-year-old boy in May 2013.
The court heard Maybir had subjected the child to repeated acts of violent abuse as a means of ‘punishment’ over a period of four months, which resulted in fatal injuries of severe blunt force trauma on the front and back of the little boy’s skull.

The child’s mother Kayla James has already been convicted and sentenced to at least 10½ years jail for manslaughter, after she failed to seek medical assistance until after her son was dead.
Maybir was also found guilty of making the seven-year-old boy commit an act of indecency on another child.
Sentencing submissions will be heard on February 19.
