Police from Burwood have appealed to the community for information following a number of frauds that have been committed in the area against home owners.
On Thursday 26 July 2015, investigators attached to Burwood Local Area Command established Strike Force Thurlagoona to investigate the fraud offences that had been committed in the area.
Investigators attached to the strike force believe that elderly residents, usually living alone, are being targeted by people offering to make repairs on their roof or around the home.

Residents have then been escorted to financial institutions and large amounts of cash have been withdrawn to pay for the work which is not completed.
Investigators have identified incidents locally, across the metropolitan area and interstate.
Strike Force Thurlagoona investigators are now appealing to the community for information about other offences which may have occurred.
Burwood Detectives are leading the investigation and said the offenders had targeted the most vulnerable members of the community.
“The frauds have been committed by both men and women who are described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in their 20s,” Detective Inspector Pryde, Crime Manager Burwood said.
“They generally target senior citizens who withdraw large sums of cash for the repairs which are never completed.
“I urge anyone with information about these offences to come forward immediately,” Detective Inspector Pryde said.
Anyone with information should contact Burwood Police or Crime Stoppers.
