Sydney woman charged over sickening assault of baby

A 21-year-old woman has been charged following investigations into the assault of a baby in Sydney’s south-west last year.

Police say in February 2015, detectives from the child abuse squad were alerted after an 18-month old child had been injured.

Following investigations into the assault, a 21-year-old woman was arrested at Bankstown Police Station on Tuesday 19 July.


She was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), and two counts of conceal indictable offence.

She appeared at Bankstown Local Court yesterday, where she was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 14 September.

The young girl is in the care of NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
