Tara Brown’s car allegedly used in Dufty murder

Police believe the car young mother Tara Brown was driving before she was killed was used to commit another murder just months before.

It’s alleged Ms Brown’s former partner, Lionel Patea, used her Mazda 2 in July to drive to a Gold Coast Hinterland property where he allegedly met cousin Aaron Crawford. It is at that spot that the pair are alleged to have killed 37-year-old Greg Dufty over a drug debt.

On September 8, Patea allegedly rammed that same Mazda off the road in Molendinar, before bashing 24-year-old Brown as she lay trapped inside. She died in hospital.

Patea has been charged with Ms Brown’s murder and the case against him is ongoing.

Patea, Crawford and another man, Liam Bliss, have been charged over the murder of Mr Dufty.

Both cases are set to return to court at a later date.
