Tattooist wanted for ‘genital mutilation’ arrested at Melbourne airport

AN American tattooist wanted for allegedly mutilating a woman’s genitals on the NSW Central Coast has been arrested after flying into Melbourne on a flight from San Francisco.

The 40-year-old man was arrested at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport just after 5am on Thursday.

The tattooist is wanted for questioning over the alleged genital mutilation of a 33-year-old woman during a body modification procedure at a tattoo parlour in Newcastle back in January 2016.

He was apprehended on an interstate warrant and is expected to be extradited to New South Wales.

The man is the second to be arrested over the case after detectives formed Strike Force ‘Nellievale’ to investigate a series of illegal body modifications in Newcastle and on the Central Coast.

A 37-year-old body modifier from Terrigal was arrested by Strike Force Nellievale detectives in May and charged with ‘prohibition of female genital mutilation, under Section 45 of the NSW Crimes Act.
