Taxi driver robbed and bashed in Sydney’s south

A taxi driver has been robbed and beaten in Sydney’s south on Sunday morning.

Just before 7:00AM emergency services were called to Wentworth Avenue, Eastgardens, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told the driver, a man believed to be aged in his 50s, was in a parked taxi when a man walked up and threatened him.

The man stole cash and assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene.

The driver was treated by paramedics for grazes to his hand, face and back before being taken to Prince of Wales Hospital.

Officers from Botany Bay Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
