US Jury finds former radio DJ guilty of groping Taylor Swift

UPDATE @ 9.12am: A US jury has found former Colorado DJ David Mueller guilty of groping Taylor Swift.

After about five hours of deliberation, the six-woman, two-man jury determined that Mueller assaulted the pop star by grabbing her backside while posing for a photo together during a pre-concert fan reception in 2013.

The jurors also found Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift, not liable for tortious interference.

Mueller will be required to pay $1 in damages to Swift.

EARLIER: Jurors have started deliberating in the trial of duelling lawsuits between Taylor Swift and a Colorado DJ she accuses of groping her in 2013.

The popstar said David Mueller grabbed her bare backside while posing for a photo together during a pre-concert fan reception.

Swift is also suing Mueller for $US1.

However, Mueller started the legal proceeding suing Swift and claiming Andrea Swift (Taylor’s mother) got him fired over the allegations.

It’s understood Andrea Swift called Mueller’s boss after the alleged groping and requested for him to be fired from his job as a Colorado radio DJ.

In court this morning, Taylor Swift broke down in tears during her closing statements, saying she was taking action on behalf of all women who have been assaulted.

An eight-person jury must rule unanimously on Mueller’s claim that Andrea Swift wrongly caused his firing.

The jury will also need to reach a verdict on Swift’s counterclaim of assault and battery and her request for $US1.
